Translate, Bookmark, Share in Google Chrome Without Chrome Extensions/Addons Posted: 05 Dec 2009 08:20 AM PST Google chrome extensions are now functional but it's availability is limited. However, the past Google chrome addons (also read as Google chrome bookmarklets) are pretty much helpful and can be used on any internet browser. Similarly, today I'll be sharing one tool that will help you to tweet, Bookmark, Share (similar to Shareaholic extension of Google Chrome) and translate webpages on Google chrome or Opera browser without installing any tool or extensions. This useful online service is called usekit which provides an toolbar for completing tasks such as tweeting, bookmarking and translating webpages for free. How to use Usekit on Google Chrome First step is to register at usekit, I know this might sound like a lengthier process but it's not. The signup and verification will hardly take a minute or two. Once you are done with the registration process, login to your usekit account as shown in the screenshot. Now you have to add the usekit button to your bookmark menu bar. In Google chrome you can use ctrl+b to show/hide bookmark manager bar. On the right side of usekit homepage you can find the usekit button which should be dragged to the bookmark bar as shown. That's it. Carry on with your browsing habits and whenever you feel like tweeting the webpage, bookmarking it or translating pages into your own language then click the usekit button that you've bookmarked, a toolbar in the botton appears where you can also make sticky notes, mark the webpage or bookmark on delicious!

Using Windows Host File to Access, Block Websites Posted: 05 Dec 2009 06:46 AM PST You are not able to access particular website from your internet browser? Or you don't want your kid to access certain websites online? Here is a simple tip to access or block websites  with the help of Windows hosts file which is located in your system32 folder of windows. These hostfiles are usually used to map the hostnames to IP address which is supervised under the admin activity. Block Websites or Access blocked websites Some people use this trick to block access from specific webpages. If you are not able to access particular websites such as Microsoft.com or Yahoo.com then check the host files which is located at C:\windows\system32\drivers\etc For windows 98/95/ME you can access the host file by navigating to: C:\windows\ You will find a file called hosts which can be opened in any free word processors including notepad. Here is how hosts file in windows xp looks like.. Blocking websites – If you observe closely, you can find an example in host file showing on how to block websites. So, consider an example that you want to block Myspace from school or orkut from office then these lines should be added to the host file 127.0.0.1 orkut.com 127.0.0.1 http://www.orkut.com The value 127.0.0.1 remains the same as it is your local machine's IP address. Make sure you include the alternative urls to block the websites (Myspace.com and http://www.myspace.com to block Myspace). Save the file and close it! Accessing Websites – If certain websites are blocked from in your computer then check host files and delete the lines of code (ex: 127.0.0.1 orkut.com) and save the file. But a new line of research suggests that Santa is able to do that by employing some cutting-edge technology and advanced science, which normal people are just beginning to decipher. Undoubtedly, most of the new stuff he uses is concentrated in his sleigh, which scientists hail as the most advanced piece of aircraft ever created. "Santa is using technologies that we are not yet able to recreate in our own labs. As the first scholar to participate in the Santa's Workshop-North Pole Labs (SW-NPL) program, I learned that we have a long way to go to catch up with Santa in fields ranging from aerodynamics and thermodynamics to materials science," North Carolina State University (NC State) Professor of Mechanical and Aerospace Engineering Dr. Larry Silverber says. The expert has just finished a six-month visiting-scholar program stay at the SW-NPL, and brings new insight into the matter. The expert says that the sleigh is highly advanced. "The truss of the sleigh, including the runners, are made of a honeycombed titanium alloy that is very lightweight and 10 to 20 times stronger than anything we can make today," he adds. The truss can also change shape, "allowing it to cut through the air more efficiently. The runners on the sleigh, for example, have some flexure. This allows them to tuck in to be more aerodynamic during flight, and then spread out to provide stability for landing on various surfaces – such as steeply pitched roofs," the scientist says. Additionally, Santa apparently mastered the art of harnessing "relativity clouds" for his own use. Inside these clouds, time can be wrapped like a bubble, which basically gives him a few months' time to deliver the presents, while mere minutes pass for normal people like us. "Based on his advanced knowledge of the theory of relativity, Santa recognizes that time can be stretched like a rubber band, space can be squeezed like an orange and light can be bent. Relativity clouds are controllable domains – rips in time – that allow him months to deliver presents while only a few minutes pass on Earth. The presents are truly delivered in a wink of an eye," Silverber says. He also adds that the propulsion system is based on jetpack-equipped reindeer, which use the power of cold fusion for their amazing speed. The animals, reins and jetpacks are "arrayed in such a way as to create a stable reindeer-sleigh system. The sleigh's reins are used to not only direct the heads of the reindeer, but to direct the orientation of the jetpacks for precision flight," the expert says.
