Despite being placed in a highly competitive category, the new Polo emerged as the clear winner after being tested on Scottish roads by a panel of judges.

Porsche AG, Stuttgart, is also set to launch the latest high performance sports car from Zuffenhausen: from November 21 to 29, 2009, interested parties can come and see the new 911 Turbo in an exhibition alongside its predecessors. Visitors can enjoy an insight into the development of the seventh generation Turbo. An exclusive prototype of the new 500 horsepower 911, used by the Porsche engineers for testing, will be on show.

BMU SUBSIDISES BATTERY-ELECTRIC MERCEDES-BENZ VANS Posted: 17 Nov 2009 02:26 AM PST Stuttgart/Berlin – Mercedes- Benz Vans is to receive a grant of up to nine million Euro from the Federal German Ministry for the Environment, Nature Conservation and Reactor Safety (BMU) for the research and development, testing and trial of electrically powered vans. The finds are being made available from the German government's Economic Support Programme 2.

At EuroCarBody, the world's largest car body benchmarking conference, a jury made up of about 400 conference delegates and board members voted the E-Class as the car with the best bodyshell. A total of nine new series-production bodies were presented in detail and scrutinised at the EuroCarBody event held in Bad Nauheim, Germany at the end of October. The candidates included the Jaguar XJ, Audi R8 spyder and BMW 5 Series GT.

It is durable, robust and can tackle any road, no matter how tricky: the Volkswagen Amarok will have to prove those claims from January 2010 during the world's toughest rally. Volkswagen Commercial Vehicles is the "Official Supplier" to the Dakar Rally and a partner to the organiser, the Amaury Sport Organisation (A.S.O.). The new pickup from Volkswagen will be the Support Vehicle for the rally. The organiser is to use 20 Amarok, with a further 15 to be used as press and shuttle vehicles.
