Is the New iPhone Model Built with High Definition?

Up and expected for grab this coming summer season is the new model of the iPhone called the iPhone HD. Based on speculations, this new iPhone model from Apple will have a much better screen resolution, one that doubles its forerunner's specification, and thus can display media contents with high definition.

The original iPhone model has dimension ranging from 320 by 480 or 960 by 640 pixels. The new model is said to have double that feature, something to look forward for astonishment as the device screen  is only 3.5 inches. What techie Greeks are worried about is how the screen upgrade could affect the device's performance and operation.

The iPhone we now have is already considered with high resolution of 163 pixels per inch or PPI, and this is even higher than those of Mac Book's or iMac's with 113 and 108 PPI, respectively. Assuming the screen of the new model is still 3.5 inches, the conjectured upgrade could be really impressive at 326 PPI, it might even surpass the Google Nexus One's 252 PPI. But can the upgrade be realistic for daily usage? For standard viewing of photos, this is quite advantageous, but will it also have the same positive effect on gaming and video applications?

Aside from the HD upgrade, the upcoming model of the iPhone is said to also have a thinner frame and a trendier function as brought about by the A4 Processor unique to Apple and is also utilized in iPad. Also expected to be included in the new iPhone model is the much awaited web cam feature, the iSight. Plus there would also be special software, the iChat which would allow video chatting right from the iPhone.

In previous media news, this new model is referred to as the iPhone 4G as it is assumed to have support for the fourth generation of cellular networks. This 4G technology, called LTE Advanced, can support browser speed of 100Mbps maximum. But information from a latest report from Wall Street Journal has mentioned nothing about the LTE Technology, probably because this feature may not be feasible yet for realistic market launch. In place for the LTE is the CDMA alleged support by Apple. Hmm, sounds and seems like a potential rivalry with Verizon. European consumers are however not so very probable to benefit from this feature.

Why the iPad Will Do to Books What the iPod did to Music

Apple's latest iGadget, the iPad, has just been released in the United States over the weekend, amid much fanfare from the legion of tech blogs around the blogosphere.

It goes without saying that we're at the brink of something big here — something revolutionary, and one can liken this historic moment to that of nearly 10 years ago, when Apple introduced the world to the iPod.

At that time, the concept of carrying 5GB worth of music around in your pocket — or, to paraphrase what Apple CEO Steve Jobs said at the keynote, "enough music to last you a trip to the moon and back" — was quite novel.

Couple this remarkable new hardware with the tight integration to the newly released iTunes, and the iTunes Store, and we have something that can sell like crazy. And it sure did sell. So much so that the term "iPod" has become synonymous with "mp3″ and "music".

Fast-forward to three years ago, when the first Amazon Kindle was released, and the world's attention shifted from portable music to portable reading — or, more appropriately, digitized reading.

Amazon's Kindle reader has grown to become the definitive standard upon which ebooks are consumed. But we can liken this to Sony's Walkman player around the time of the iPod birth: whilst novel in its concept, it is still cumbersome, and especially for book publishers, ties them to "fixed" price models that leave little to no room for flexible pricing and thus higher revenue.

And so we come to the iPad's iBooks and iBookstore: perhaps the "saviour" for publishers the world over. With this "magical" new product and store interface, Apple brings to the table what Amazon lacked: Style.

You just have to take a glance at the beautiful interface that iBooks has to realize that it's going to be a success: Apple's managed to integrate that "natural-ness" of the book, bringing back the feeling of reading, and not playing with a fancy new gadget.

The iBooks feature of the iPad will certainly get the masses into the next generation of reading, just like the iPod got millions taking their album collections on-the-go with them. And who knows, ten years from now, the terms "ebooks" and "e-reader" will become synonymous with one word: iPad.

Touching Base with the iPad: My Personal iPad Review

It was a nice Saturday morning when my cousins got their Apple iPad. And oh boy! They, or We to be more appropriate, were so amazed with the new gadget and they didn't seem to notice it's been hours since they started meddling with it, clicking here, pressing there, taking photos and screenshots and testing every application that the device have to offer.

But I have got to admit that after several hours of exploration, there still remains a lot of interesting features that my cousins (and with me of course!) need to get acquainted with the Ipad. Since we started getting our hands-on and inspection, me and my cousins have touched first base with Ipad and here are a few of what we came to know about it:

The screen, it was huge and vivid. So bright with lively colors it simply left us dumbfounded! And when the Epicurious  (an intermediary application), we were all rendered speechless by the dazzling red splash on the screen, whereas the Marvel Comics application, though still in beta form was also astounding. With the iPad screen, you would never feel that it's like a screen taken away from a laptop; instead it gives you a feeling of having a really big iPhone monitor in front of you.

Due to the bigger screen size, applications are displayed more conveniently for the user, it can be split in a landscape mode (content to the right and items index to the left). The Ipad is even more functional, due mainly to the additional items on the toolbars plus the 'popover' UI which could impossibly fit in an iPhone. Pretty fast operating system too as seen from the no-delay zooms and pans even when running the Safari browser.

Moreover, there are also several accessories that we have tried with the Apple iPad to further enhance its performance. One is a proper case to give it a slight inclination when placed on your lap or on a table top. The Keyboard dock can be attached for maximized typing and with its Bluetooth accessories for audio, headphones and many others make it a feature plus gadget. The iPad of course charges exclusively through its own power adapters.

Additional iPad applications can be acquired from the App store. File transfer with Ipad is also made much easier. There's even an application called iWork for reception and conversion of files among others apps.

Is This 14.1MP Camera Enough: The Sony Cyber-shot DSC-W370 Review

If you are looking for a camera that has some notable and some not so very notable features at a price you would consider affordable for a digital photo device, then the Sony Cyber-shot DSC-W370 is just what you might have an interest to.Sony Cyber shot DSC W370 Is This 14.1MP Camera Enough: The Sony Cyber shot DSC W370 Review

This camera from Sony is decent enough considering it has specifications of

  • 14.1 mega pixels resolution
  • Large zoom capability by its optical lens that can be zoomed up to seven times from 34 millimeters to 238 millimeters
  • LCD screen measured at three inches
  • Video recording abilities of up to 720 pixels
  • Available colors are silver, green and red
  • Has dimensions of 4 x 2.25 x 1.06 ( all in inches)
  • Total  weight of 6.3ounces  including the battery pack and one memory card (Sd or SDHC cards or sticks)

Our review of Sony Cyber Shot DSC W370 Camera

Because the DSC-W370 has a quite bigger lens for zooming, you may find that it's a little difficult to use for point and shoot instances. And even for some night gimmicks, this cam is sure too large to fit in your pockets.

But what's amazing about this large cam is the quality of images it produces. When I set the gadget at 3200, the highest possible setting, I noticed some little grains appearing but the colors appeared quite realistic. But in general, all of the pictures I have taken were truly clear. Several ingenious and nifty features are also in this camera. Cost: $230.

sony dsc w370 review 300x210 Is This 14.1MP Camera Enough: The Sony Cyber shot DSC W370 Review

Complete with a mode called Sweep Panorama that allows any user to take 243-degree panoramic shots. It also has a self-portrait timer feature that is useful for pictures that you want to put in social networking sites.

I just found one drawback about the mediocre Sony DSC-W370. The lag time of this camera surely annoyed me. The shutter lags for roughly two seconds when used for single shots and a much longer time in between multiple shots, not only that, but there is also a delay when the button is pressed after I took a shot. What makes it worse is that I have to press twice as one press would not register a particular scene and therefore may not be recommended for taking pictures of events that happen quickly. You may also not love this camera if you wish to review your current shot after you took it.
